Day 1 - Katoomba to Cox's River (15 km, 6 - 8 hours)
After an early morning meet and greet in Katoomba, we will start the hike at the Six Foot Track Info Shelter near the historic Explorer's Tree. We will then plunge down through the rainforest into the Megalong valley via the Nellies Glen canyon steps. This is a great spot to get up close to the cliffs of the Blue Mountains and the vertical terrain. Once in the valley, we will meander through a scribbly gum forest and then through the rural valley, soaking in the impressive vistas of the countryside.
After stopping for a packed lunch on the trail, we will journey towards the remote Cox's River and the famous Bowtells swing bridge. Crossing the bridge is bound to get your heart rate up, and is one of the highlights of the track (our guides can also help you cross the river via an alternative route should you prefer). From the other side of the river, it is then a short stroll to our accommodation for the evening at the Eco Lodge and a celebratory beer, wine or soft drink upon arrival.
The Eco Lodge is a hidden gem of the region. Running entirely off-the-grid, the lodge generates energy from solar panels, collects rainwater for drinking and washing, and uses a worm-composting toilet. While the facilities are basic, it is the perfect spot to rest up after a great day of hiking. You can settle in with a campfire, and enjoy a slow-cooked dinner and drink as you put your feet up. There is a basic cold shower also available for use.
During the night, you will share a cabin with the group, sleeping on sturdy wooden bunk beds with comfy mattresses, pillows and doonas (bedding sheets and covers are provided). The cabin is heated on winter nights by a slow combustion fire for a comfortable night’s sleep.

Day 2 - Cox's River to Local Vineyard ( 7km, 3 - 4 hours)
Day two begins leisurely with a buffet style breakfast that includes a selection of muesli and cereal, scrambled eggs (free range from the neighbour's farm), cheese, bacon, baked beans, sliced tomatoes, spreads, sourdough bread, and a selection of teas and plunger coffee. For those who are inclined, there is the chance for some body-loosening Yoga stretches and sun salutations to get you ready for the day's hike.
We then set off on our 7km return journey through the valley, taking time to soak in the morning light and listen to the birds. It is amazing to see how different the valley and hills look from another perspective. From then, we will make our way to a local boutique vineyard and finish the hike with a full ploughman's lunch and wine tasting. The feast will include cheeses, cold meats, olives and sun-dried tomatoes, all served with fresh locally made bread, grissini and flat bread. While feasting, you can also try a substantial tasting of 7 current vintage wines, all included in the tour.
After lunch, we will board a private bus to make the trip back to Katoomba. We finish the hike by saying farewell to new friends and knowing that all the proceeds of the tour go towards promoting and protecting children's rights around the world (find out more here). This is a weekend experience like no other.
