Emu Trekkers was able to successfully resume many of its hikes during 2023. With a successful relaunch, we were able to take out over 200 people into the outdoors, and raise $25,000 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and UNICEF Australia. Emu Trekkers remained relatively quiet throughout the 2022 financial year due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 and extreme weather events.
Whilst many trails remained closed and tourism demand was low, we were fortunately able to offer 8 day hikes and 3 overnight hiking experiences for 126 participants. With the support of our long-term volunteer team, we were also able to spend some additional time planning new hiking experiences, recognising the opportunities that rebuilding presents.
