OUR MISSION
Emu Trekkers is a 100% not-for-profit tour operator run by volunteer guides based in Sydney, Australia. We offer adventurous hiking tours around Sydney and Australia and use the proceeds to support the education, healthcare and welfare of disadvantaged children and youth.
Helping KidsWe want to help children and youth as much as we can with schooling, health and welfare. All our guides give their time voluntarily and are passionate about this cause.

Promoting the environmentThe Australian bush is a beautiful yet fragile place. We want to share our love of the Australian environment in a way that minimises our footprint and fosters a love for the outdoors.
|
Raising AwarenessMany travellers want to learn more about social issues affecting Australia. We aim to raise awareness about these issues and encourage dialogue among participants.
|
TACKLING DISADVANTAGE ONE STEP AT A TIME
Improving Indigenous LiteracyEmu Trekkers has donated $100,000 AUD, or the equivalent of 10,000 culturally-appropriate books, to children and families living in remote Communities across Australia.
|
Welcoming RefugeesEmu Trekkers offers hikes to children and youth of refugee background to welcome them to Australia, make new friends and introduce them to the Australian bush .
|
Protecting Children's RightsSince August 2018, Emu Trekkers has donated $50,000 AUD to UNICEF Australia to support their mission to promote and protect children's rights around the world.

HOW IT STARTED
The idea of Emu Trekkers came when the founders, Tristan and Rutty, were hiking in Nicaragua and Guatemala and saw a successful not-for-profit hiking organisation, called Quetzal Trekkers and Quetzal Trekkers Leon, raising money to build schools and educate kids living in the streets. Tristan and Rutty were so impressed with the model that they decided to start it up in Australia as well.
In 2017, Emu Trekkers was registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and obtained a NSW Parks and Wildlife Service Ecopass license. The first treks began in September 2017. |
