In 2018, Emu Trekkers is proudly supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation with their commitment to improve literacy among children in remote Indigenous communities in Australia.
What we love about the Indigenous Literacy Foundation is that they not only gift thousands of new culturally appropriate books - with a focus on early literacy and first language - but they also run programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
So if you are thinking about joining us for a hike, remember that all the proceeds of our walks go to helping organisations like the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Emu Trekkers would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land in which our treks operate and pay our respects to their elders both past and present. With a commitment to reconciliation, we acknowledge the ongoing impact of past policies and practices, and commit our endeavours to creating a just society that celebrates the ongoing resilience and self-determination of our first peoples and communities. Emu Trekkers is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR). ABN 82614391614.
