Since Emu Trekkers hikes began in 2017, our mission has always been to offer adventurous hiking tours around Sydney and Australia and use the proceeds to support the education, healthcare and welfare of disadvantaged children and youth. Or put simply: Hike Australia. Help Kids. We’re extremely proud to announce that thanks to more than 2,600 adventurous people from over 40 countries, we’ve been able to donate a total of $150,000 to help kids. The donated funds are split between two organisations doing incredible work. The Indigenous Literacy Foundation runs programs that instil a love of reading from an early age. Every $10 donated puts a culturally relevant book into the hands of a child living in remote Australia. Our contribution so far is equivalent to 10,000 books over the past 6 years!
UNICEF works day in and day out, in some of the world’s toughest places, to improve children’s health, nutrition, education and protection. From sending emergency supplies to children during conflict, natural disasters or humanitarian crises, to long-term survival and development programs, Emu Trekkers donations help UNICEF Australia protect the most vulnerable children, no matter what. We look forward to continuing our support of these wonderful organisations via our award-winning hiking experiences.
