Over the past months, Emu Trekkers has been deeply saddened and concerned by the impact the Australian bushfire crisis has had on our environment and our communities. These fires have resulted in tragic loss of life, immense destruction of our natural flora and fauna, and damage to our houses and infrastructure. Emu Trekkers’ operations have also been impacted, requiring many cancellations of our trips during the peak tourism period.

Like many others in the community, Emu Trekkers is keen to play a role in the recovery of our communities and our natural environment.

Since August 2018, we have proudly supported UNICEF Australia with their mission to promote and protect children's rights around the world, and we have today donated a further $10,000 to UNICEF to help their efforts supporting children and their families affected by the devastating Australian bushfire crisis.

This money has been raised from our award-winning not-for-profit hikes in Sydney and the Blue Mountains, and will be specifically used to

  • Support immediate relief efforts through a back-to-school package for affected children in time for the new school year
  • Support recovery by working with partners to provide access to psychosocial support for affected children, and
  • Contribute to rehabilitation efforts by convening appropriate forums to ensure children’s voices shape future responses.

You can find out more about UNICEF’s work here.

If you are keen to help our bushfire response, why not join us on our brand new Hike into the Royal National Park or our two-day Sea to Summit Sydney and the Blue Mountains adventure package. For the months of February and March 2020, proceeds from the Royal National Park hikes will be specifically directed to UNICEF Australia's bushfire response.

We hope to see you on the trails!
